Insight into the future of weight loss.

Simply knowing about a problem or epidemic is merely the beginning of solving the problem. It is the first step of a sequence that could bring real, sustainable change. Researchers have offered ideas of what to do in order to address the obesity epidemic for the future. Their ideas are not only tangible, but reasonable and realistic. Researchers advise, "limiting access to large portion sizes and high-energy-density foods and having an environment in which physical activity is more difficult to avoid." (Bray, 2005) They also point to modification of the foods available to consumers as a way to minimize the damage that processed foods cause. It follows that if we had better, healthier food options available for consumption that the poor eating habits that people practice would change. Although the authors point to regulations as a possible solution, I suggest that perhaps we hold multi national "fast-food" corporations responsible for the damage they have caused. They suggest that, "regulations on appropriate serving sizes might be a part of the information provided by restaurants when requested." (Bray, 2005) To me, however this seems like it should be a mandatory thing that all restaurants post clearly and visibly for their customers.
